HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW & RODEO

Did you know that Houston is home to the largest annual rodeo in the entire world? It’s also happening during our wedding weekend if you’re up for a true Texas experience. There’s much more to it than the livestock exhibits and competitions. They’ve also got an international BBQ contest, carnival, drone show/fireworks, and nightly concerts featuring A-list celebrities. If you decide to head out to NRG Park, make sure you pack your walking shoes and give yourself extra time to plan for parking. For more information, click here.

POST MARKET & SKYLAWN

POST Market is a food hall with more than 20 vendors of international cuisine. It’s located in the old downtown post office building, which has been refurbished into a multi-use building. The prices are a bit steep, but you don’t have to come here for the food. We love taking visitors to Skylawn, their rooftop park. Whether you visit during the day or night, it provides spectacular views of the Houston skyline.

NASA JOHNSON SPACE CENTER

Remember the phrase, “Houston, we have a problem”? This is the place that received that message from the Apollo 13 mission back in 1970. Whether you’re a space enthusiast or not, there’s an abundance of things to experience in their museum and immersive learning center for science and space exploration. There’s exhibits, galleries, VR/motion simulators, tram tours, and more. If you want to make this a part of your trip, it’ll likely be at least an hour drive each way since it’s located in the far southeast part of the city.

BELLAIRE BOULEVARD (LITTLE SAIGON + CHINATOWN)

Houston boasts the second largest Asian American population in the country, falling behind only to Southern California. Its Asiatown spans six square miles in the Southwestern part of the city, filled with hundreds of restaurants, bakeries, boba shops, supermarkets, spas, souvenir shops, and more! One of our favorite things to do in Chinatown and Little Saigon is get cheap massages (We recommend Oasis Massage Salon in Dun Huang Plaza).

GAME SHOW EXPERIENCE

Have you always wanted to be on a game show, but it just never happened? Are you an overly competitive person who always dominates your friends and family at game night? Are you bored of escape rooms and looking for something new to challenge your thinking skills? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may want to check out one of Houston’s mock game show experiences: Game Show Studio, Great Big Game Show, or Game Show Battle Rooms. You usually need at least 6 people in order to play. The experience comes with a live, interactive host who typically runs you through 3 different games in 60 mins.

MEOW WOLF HOUSTON

Meow Wolf opened its fifth U.S. location in Houston last year, an immersive art museum that includes everything from paranormal storylines to hidden doors. Houston’s storyline is Radio Tave, which begins in an explorable vintage radio station that inadvertently “ripped a hole in the time continuum.” There, you’ll find a portal that leads you through a variety of landscapes including a whimsical forest, dark alleyway, and funky disco house party. If you’re interested in something less intense, we also recommend Seismique.

ROOFTOP CINEMA CLUB

This is an outdoor movie theater located on the roof of the BLVD Place parking garage in the Uptown neighborhood. It provides a beautiful backdrop view of the Houston city skyline as you enjoy a showing with cinema-style headphones. Of course, operations are dependent on good weather. But in March, you’re more than likely going to have clear nights with not very much rain. Tickets range between $11 to $30 depending on the day, movie, seat, and time. Click here for more info.

KOREAN SPA

If you’re looking for a unique way to get some relaxation into this trip, we’d recommend checking out Spa World or Gangnam Spa. You pay a flat fee for access to multiple therapy rooms (i.e. meditation, heat, cold, Himalayan salt, etc) that you can come and go at your own pace for as long as you want. Some even have an on-site restaurant, bar, movie theater, napping pods, virtual golf, karaoke lounge, and even kids play area. You can pay extra to get professional massages or scrubs if you’d like. They have gender-separated locker rooms with bathing pools (FYI: The pools are nude-only areas).

ASTROS OR ROCKETS GAME

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’ve heard it a bajillion times — People calling the Houston Astros “cheaters” after the 2017 World Series. How do you explain their 2022 win then? Despite being under a microscope with the MLB, they still managed to bring the Commissioner’s Trophy home. Houston is a big sports city, so even if you’re not a big baseball fan, Astros games are pretty fun!

If the NBA is more your thing, head over to the Toyota Center to catch a Rockets game.

HOUSTON MURAL TOUR

The Greater Houston area has more than 750 murals.
You can use the Houston Mural Map to see and track all of them.
Another option is to book a Houston Mural Tour (Joyride charges $55/person).
The Houston Graffiti Building is a great place if you just want to make a quick stop and snap some pictures
